Achilles FPAL Verify is a Supplier audit that involves a visit to a nominated Suppliers’ premises and covers Quality, Health & Safety, Environment, Competence & Training practices. The Health, Safety and Environmental elements of the Verify audit are assessed in line with recognised industry standards IOGP & NORSOK.
Once again Peterson achieved excellent scores receiving 9.5 for both Health & Safety and Quality, 9.4 for the Environment and 8.9 for Training & Competence. The new scores show an improvement in performance across all areas from the last FPAL certificate issued two years ago, and demonstrate a visible commitment to continuous improvement.
Peterson have combined leading and lagging indicators to improve performance and this has resulted in significant improvements in Total Recordable Case Frequency (TRCF) and in 2018 the introduction of a new safety observation system which, was well received by employees and has led to a significant increase in workplace observations, which has been key to the overall improvement in safety performance.
Peterson has focused on developing digital logistic solutions to improve processes and efficiency across operations, thus the company also recognised the potential to improve safety by harnessing operational data and utilising advanced analytics to support centralised reporting and secondary process management, all of which increase transparency and drive safety improvement.
The team at Peterson are integral to the success of their business and it is the ‘OnePeterson’ team approach demonstrated daily by all employees, which enables a strong focus on safety and quality to ultimately result in a continually improving safety culture. Peterson value long-term thinking, therefore there is significant investment in their people, which provides employees with the skills and tools to be a highly trained, competent and motivated team.
Commenting on Peterson’s success, Keith Dawson, Director of HSEQ, said “FPAL is one of the many tools we use to bench mark ourselves within the industry, therefore it is extremely satisfying to achieve significant increases in our scores, across all areas. We aspire to be the industry leader across the four verify elements and this takes us a step closer to realising our ambition.
“These are exciting times with in Peterson. We like to celebrate and share our successes, but it’s equally important for us now to gauge our accomplishments, set new priorities and prepare the business for future successes. My thanks go out to all our colleagues at Peterson for their commitment and contribution in maintaining consistent high standards and making results like these achievable.”
