People profile: Shazeer Mohammed

We are pleased to share Shazeer Mohammed’s career story with Peterson. He discusses his background in the industry, progression to his current role as Control Tower Team Lead and shares some invaluable advice for other’s considering a similar career path.

What are your main responsibilities?

As Control Tower Team Lead, I am responsible for the overall efficient planning and coordination of client cargo movements to and from offshore facilities via land and sea transport to meet the dynamic timelines of our stakeholders. Additionally, my role involves CCU fleet management, transport coordination, offshore and onshore logistics coordination services, and operations administration. I am also the focal point for Peterson Lighthouse and Power BI applications at Peterson Trinidad.

How has your career progressed to where you are now?

In 2012, I started as an operations trainee on the quayside and learned various aspects of offshore oil and gas logistics from the ground up. My career progressed further as I was placed into increasingly senior roles over the past 9 years. In many of these roles I was a focal point for clients. This helped to develop my networking and customer relation skills, which assist greatly in my current role.

What projects have you worked on throughout your career that have been particularly interesting?

I have supported many projects, but I particularly enjoyed the restart of loading offshore supply vessels at Galeota port in 2018 and supporting the Peterson Guyana Team with the upcoming ramp up in operations. The BP Amherstia Vent Relocation Project in 2016 and the BP Juniper and Savannah Subsea drilling programs between 2015 and 2017 were also very exciting to be part of.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

One of the things I enjoy most is the close relationship I have with my colleagues. The camaraderie of the team working together to navigate tough situations and overcome challenges helps us to deliver on time and in full each and every time.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering a similar role?

This is a very demanding role so find ways to develop and maintain positive client and internal relationships and also set up your team with the tools and authority to maximise efficiency.

Do you have any goals that you would like to achieve in the next few years?

My short-term career goal is to progress further within Peterson, and in the long-term, I would like to open a consultancy service. Non-career wise, I would love to be able to continue to travel to different countries and try to cover the whole world if I can.
